We were two couples staying in west Kerry for a week from August 13th.
This was the highlight of our week in the Kingdom.
John delivered four bikes to… read more our hotel, the Ceann Sibéal , in Ballyferriter.
We cycled around Slea Head to Ventry and decided to double back to Ballyferriter, via a pit stop in the Stonehouse Restaurant and also in Kruger’s pub.Two very different tours, with stunning views each way.
John collected the bikes from the hotel.
A glorious day helped, but, whatever the weather, don’t miss this.

We rented bikes for two days. Norman was great and easy to work with. Very responsive. We had a minor issue with one of the bikes – no worries he met us at a pub and fixed it while we had lunch.

We had an amazing time renting bikes from John! He was so friendly and helpful in getting us oriented, and when we said we wanted to ride Slea Head, he… read more took the time to handwrite some of the stops on the map he gave us and point out landmarks we should watch out for. This was the most fun thing we did in Ireland. This is definitely the way to see the Dingle peninsula — we were so glad we didn’t just drive it.… read more We took about 6 hours total to circle the peninsula, veering off the trail for all sorts of interesting sites and excursions. Almost everything to see / stop at is in the first “half” of the trip. It took us around 4.5 hours to get to Krugers and less than 1.5 hours to get back to Dingle after that.
The bikes had plenty of juice for the trip. We were worried that we were down to 3 bars of 6 at Krugers (with the mountain pass ahead of us), but we used less than a bar going back to Dingle from there.
I got a flat tire about 1/3rd of the way in. A quick call to John and he was on his way. I checked google maps and we were an 18 minute drive from Dingle at the time and John showed up in 19 minutes. On this trip, even a flat tire is not an inconvenience — it gave us an opportunity to relax and enjoy the view for a bit.
I can’t say enough good things about Dingle Electric Bikes!
